Perception has traditionally been the focus of many philosophical problems, including the nature of the mind and the nature of the world to which perception seems to connect us. This seminar focuses on the sense of touch.

授業計画:  
Questions to be covered over the course of the semester include:

- What are the objects of tactile perception?
- Do we perceive objects directly through touch, or indirectly?
- Is touch different from vision and audition in this respect?
- Is touch perception inherently spatial?
- Molyneux’s question.
- What is the relation between tactile perception and bodily sensations?

授業の方法:  
Each week will begin with a short lecture, followed by general discussion. The lecture and discussion will be conducted in English.

成績評価方法:  
The final grade will be based on participation in discussion and a take-home exam (in English) at the end of the semester.
